Last week, we visited Alicante, Spain together. Today we move to Guadalest, a small village about 30 minutes from the Mediterranean coast. It is nestled high up in the mountains. And relatively unspoiled since it was settled by the Moors. We frequented an outdoor cafe where we discovered ginger beer shandies. A ginger shandy is similar to a Moscow Mule, but far more refreshing on a summer day. It’s made with equal parts ginger ale and pilsner beer, but can also be made with equal parts fizzy lemonade and beer. Or if you prefer a non-alcoholic beverage, try using fizzy lemonade and a ginger beer (while called beer, they’re non-alcoholic)..
Travel heals the mind and soul. A few years ago I traveled to Alicante, Spain with friends and it was a truly wonderful experience. We headed straight from the airport right to the neighborhood outdoor bar “where everybody knows your name.” The locals were lovely, although perhaps a bit quirky–this woman was walking her rabbit on a leash! Oh the palm trees and the blue skies. Even when the skies turned dark before a storm, the vistas were stunning. And even thought it looks ominous, we waited out the storm and back out we went only 20 minutes later! And the food at the local restaurants was to die.
It’s been a few years now, but my trip to Paris was one of my favorites and still provides so much inspiration for me as I develop new products and Design Themes. I am still awed by the beauty. Sometimes there are no words but no need to search for them. No matter how hard you try, it’s overwhelming–so be silent and breathe it in. Just take in the moment and be grateful. Montmartre was awe inspiring. The light in Paris took on a pink hue and French music played in some of the most unexpected places. I purchased some charcoal sketches and photos. As I walk by and see them.
You’ve probably heard of aloe vera. It grows easily in tropical climates and you can keep a small potted one on your kitchen window ledge. It’s said to have healing powers, and we put it in our LMB Ageless Skincare’s Essential Vitamin Moisture Creme. But what can it really do? Aloe is a powerful moisturizer that softens skin without clogging pores. Aloe helps wounds (like small cuts and burns) heal more quickly and can even dull the pain from minor burns. In fact, studies have shown that first and second degree burns treated with aloe vera heal more than a week sooner than burns not treated with aloe. It treats sunburn.
Two weeks ago I visited my beautiful daughter in Washington, D.C. I was lucky enough to see another beautiful sight: the cherry trees blossoming! Everything was pink and spring was finally here. My daughter and I walked through the cherry trees and then had a fantastic spa day at the Ritz Carlton. A glass of champagne never goes amis! They also served cherry tea and dark chocolate covered cherries. We’ve all heard that good quality dark chocolate has health benefits and of course fruit does, but I didn’t know quite how good cherries were for you until I did some research when I got home. They are a good source.

What do you do when you first wake up? Turn off your alarm clock and hop (or drag yourself) out of bed, probably. Well before you put your feet on the floor, take a moment for yourself. Give a nice big stretch, reaching your arms up in a “v” and spreading your fingers. Really reach up all the way to your finger tips. Feel your body waking up ready to start the day. According to a Harvard trained psychologist, doing this simple act every morning can improve your mood and your whole outlook during the day. In fact, good posture and stretching both can relieve stress and increase mindfulness. More.
Aloha! Hello and welcome to Linda’s latest Signature Design Theme. Inspired by the Pacific Rim region, this theme is a tropical twist on her original Asia Signature Design Theme. As you enter the lobby through basket weave double doors flanked by palm trees, you are greeted by a receptionist wearing a cheerful spring green and white uniform. She beckons you towards the locker room where you can pour yourself a cup of jasmine or white tea. You feel as though you’ve been transported to a tropical island in the south pacific as ukulele music is played softly over the sound of a waterfall. You relax with lomi lomi massage featuring polished lava stones.
The winter blues are real. Whether you have Seasonal Affective Disorder or just feel a little blah this time of year, there are some easy ways to make yourself feel better.* Staying warm is a simple way to kick the winter doldrums. So wear warm socks out or slippers at home. And why not pop on a pair of fun socks. I know it sounds silly but a pair of fuzzy socks or bunny slippers around the house or a pair of colorful, thick, cotton socks for going out will keep your toes toasty and put a smile on your face! It might seem like fun to hunker down in.
